General principles of enrolment

John Brotchie Nursery School is a Public Preschool and implements the current enrolment policy and procedures. John Brotchie Nursery School's enrolment applications consistently exceed the available positions, so it is important to note that placement is not guaranteed. A placement panel is formed to review all expressions of interest and allocate the positions.

The placement panel will offer enrolment in the following order:

  1. Children living in the Botany Public School local intake area. Use School Finder to confirm if your address is within this local intake area.

  2. Children living outside of the Botany School local intake area who have/had siblings at John Brotchie Nursery School or Botany Public School

  3. Children living outside the Botany Public School local intake area. Priority in this group is in the following order:

    a) Children living in a school's local intake area that does not have a department of education preschool.

    b) Children living in a school's local intake area that does have a department of education preschool.

In each of the above categories priority is given to:

School contributions

In NSW public schools, all financial contributions are voluntary. Every student has full access to the curriculum, regardless of whether contributions are made.

For more information, see Voluntary school contributions on the Department of Education's website.
