Toy Library

We have been running our toy library since 2010. The toy library idea evolved from parents requesting to borrow our games and resources over the holidays. We saw this as an opportunity to develop partnerships between learning at preschool and learning at home. Research says, strong teacher - parent partnerships are crucial for children's success, as they enhance learning, engagement, and overall well-being, leading to better academic outcomes and social skills.

Toy library

Our toy library is full of games and resources to support early skills and knowledge through play-based learning. The games and resources support the children to develop age-appropriate literacy and numeracy concepts, fine motor skills as well as social and emotional skills. The games have been carefully selected to develop concepts and skills that are developmentally appropriate and support skills and dispositions for school.

toy library

The library is open 3 times a term and families can borrow the games for two weeks. One of the purposes of the library is to support learning through play at home. The games in the toy library are the same as the games in the classrooms. The educators have been introducing and playing the games with the children during the day. You will see the best outcomes if you play with your child and support them to play the games by the rules, help them understand and develop the main concept and you play the game numerous times while you have it. Some of our games have QR codes that the teachers have made to help you understand how to play the game or to explain the main literacy concept your child is learning about and practising. We hope that you bring your child along to the toy library and borrow a game. Use it, enjoy it and have fun learning through play.
