Professional Development

Our professional, university-educated teachers and TAFE trained educators are passionate and committed to ongoing training and professional development.

Our educators take part in compulsory annual training related to:

  • child protection
  • code of conduct
  • CPR and management of anaphylaxis

Our educators also develop a Performance and Development Plan (PDP), the purpose of which is to support the continued development of skilled, effective and professional educators and therefore the ongoing improvement of children's outcomes. The performance and development process has three distinct phases; planning, implementation and review. Professional development and training events will be planned to support the implementation of the plan.

In 2017 the Educators have chosen Literacy as a team learning focus and across terms 2 and 3 will be involved in a Literacy Action Research Project. The project will involve professional readings and training events to develop our knowledge and understanding, as well as observation of our current environment and interactions using a published rating scale. We will also be auditing our literacy equipment and learning opportunities to ensure continued improvement of our resources and practices.

The Principal, as the Educational Leader of the preschool, along with support from the educators and families develops other key documents to guide and support staff in providing a quality educational program for the children.

We have a 3 year School Plan which engages, inspires and shapes the educational priorities and aspirations for the school, including supporting professional development.

We also develop an annual Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) as part of the National Quality Standards - assessment and rating process.

The aim of a QIP is to help services self-assess their performance in delivering quality education and care and to plan future improvements.

The QIP also helps the regulatory authorities with their assessment of the service. You can view our current QIP in the library or ask for a copy from the office.
